The Future of My Dollar Plan is Up To You!

Posted by Madison on October 30, 2008

Almost a year has gone by since the beginning of My Dollar Plan. With 1700+ readers strong, we have lots of ideas, stories, and opinions on personal finance. I want to hear from you!

Personal Finance Topics

The topics of my articles come from various sources: reader questions, my own financial situation, things I read about in the news, and casual discussions with family and friends.

In reality though, that’s a bizarre way to meet your needs as a reader. I’d like to focus the upcoming year on meeting your needs.

What Do You Like to Read About?

I’d like to know what you want to hear about! Just cast your vote below (feed readers click here to vote). You can vote for more than one topic, so feel free to mark all the ones that you like.

The poll has some of the more common topics that I currently write about. If there is something missing or you want to expand on some of the choices, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

In addition, feel free to comment on some of the other ongoing series at My Dollar Plan:

Action Plan

Based on the results, I’m going to put together a plan for the upcoming year at My Dollar Plan. I don’t envision that the general direction will change (I won’t switch from personal finance to shoes), but I can make an effort to write about the things that matter to you the most!

  1. I voted, but thought I’d also leave a comment here. I particularly enjoy your articles on retirement planning (especially early retirement planning) and taxes/small business issues. I consider you a source of information and inspiration on those topics.

  2. Thank you for actually listening to your readers! It’s refreshing to see that some “big” bloggers do care about the people reading them!
Since I’m (luckily) debt-free and recently graduated, I voted frugality and retirement plans. I think now is the time to think about those!

  3. I think this is a great idea to engage your readers and find out exactly what’s important to them. I’m glad I found your blog! This is my frist time here and I wanted to say hi. 🙂

  4. How do you know how much you need before you can retire. I am working for a goal, but I don’t even know what it is.

  5. This is a great site. I am new to this blogging thing, and found your site through searching balance sheet planning information. I love the retirement articles. You strategy for saving so young was great. I would like to see some ideas on saving for retirement, especially if you AIG is high, and you cannot fund your ira and do not have a 401k available at work. What do you invest in so you can have some tax savings strategies. HELP thanks

  6. I voted for all the choices since they all matter to me! I know I’m not much help to you in picking the most relevant topic but I really like all the topics you write about in your blog. Also, I’d like to see more small business related topics, if you’re up to it, of course.

  7. As a part-time operator of a family owned small business, I would also be interested in small business topics.

  8. I like just about everything you write about. I’ve been doing that low rate credit card arbitrage thing for some time, and I’m always looking for something for nothing, low prices or free money. I can’t understand why more people don’t. Thank you for what you do.
