Hilton American Express 50,000 Point Sign Up Bonus

We’re headed to a wedding this summer where the block of rooms is at a Hilton. Unfortunately, the discounted rate on the rooms is pretty steep! Enter the Hilton HHonors card from American Express.

The card currently has a 50,000 point sign up bonus. Even though the sign up bonus sometimes goes a little higher, it is still significant enough to offset our travel costs so I’m going for it.

How to Get Your Sign Up Bonus

  1. Sign up for the Hilton HHonors Card* from American Express.
  2. Make at least $750 in purchases in the first 3 months.
  3. Receive 50,000 Hilton bonus points.

Earning Points. Earn 7x Hilton points on Hilton hotel spend, 5x points at restaurants, supermarkets, and gas stations and 3x points everywhere else.

Hilton Status. You’ll get silver Hilton status with the card. If you spend $20,000 in a year on your card you’ll get gold status. However, I’ve found the best way to earn status at Hilton, is to just have it matched to another program.

Surpass Option. There is also an option for the Surpass card with a higher sign up bonus and additional earning. However, it has an annual fee, so you’ll need to calculate which option is better for you.
