I Lost My Wallet, My Mind, and Diet Coke

Posted by Madison on January 6, 2011

I lost my wallet. And if you’ve ever lost your wallet, you can probably relate to the complete breakdown I’m having. I can’t concentrate on anything, and I keep retracing my steps the last two days.

Luckily, I have a handy photo of my wallet contents that will help as a checklist of who to call if it doesn’t turn up.

I’m holding out hope though. I actually lost my car keys two months ago when our one year old daughter threw them in the trash. Apparently she’s hit the developmental stage where it’s fun to move everything around. I eventually found the keys 2 days later, so I’m hoping that my wallet will turn up too (although, I still haven’t found our garlic powder!)

Losing Credit Cards. If you have to call to cancel a credit card because you lost it, I know that the cash rewards transfer to the new card.

But what about the quarterly rotating cash rewards, will I need to re-enroll in each of the offers?

Losing My Mind. I’m guessing that I might be handling the missing wallet a little better if it weren’t for the Game On challenge that I started yesterday with a bunch of friends.

Losing Diet Coke. One of the components in the competition is giving up diet pop and artificial sweeteners. As I fight off a major caffeine withdrawal, my recollection of where on earth I left my wallet (or where my sweet and innocent daughter could have hidden it) all becomes a big blur! Luckily, since I started drinking coffee, I’m able to still function partially (although it tastes pretty nasty without being able to add any sweetener!)

2011 Resolutions. At least by the time I find my wallet, or when I have to begin the process of canceling all my credit cards, I should be handling the lack of Diet Coke without the added drama. And I’ll be well on the way to a new, healthier self in 2011!

For the first time in my life I’m skipping the financial goals and I’m actually making a fitness, health, and diet resolution. I know it’s a little cliche, since it’s such a popular resolution; but since I finally lost all of the baby weight last year, I’m ready to take it a step further and focus on health and nutrition, which is where the Game On challenge comes into play.

Has anyone else played the game before? If so, I’d love to hear how it went!

Now, back to searching for my wallet….

  1. I know how frustrating it is to lose your wallet; someone stole mine a few years ago and it magically returned itself a year later (money gone of course). A few months ago I lost it in my fiance’s car. Hopefully you find it! It’s a hassle looking for it.

    • A year later? That’s amazing! I bet you had long given up hope of ever seeing it again!

  2. My wife lost her credit card (of course she found it hours after calling the company to request a new one, as is the Murphy’s rule associated with that), and her rewards points and enrollment in the program carried through seamlessly once the new card was activated and associated with her web account (a quick verification process).

  3. Oh I am so sorry to hear this! I hope you found it by now??? Wishful thinking?
