More on American Express
Cash Back. You’ll earn 6% cash back at US supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year in purchases), 3% cash back at US gas stations & select US department stores and 1% cash back on all other purchases. I frequently mention this card because it offers one of the highest rates for cashback on groceries.
Redeeming Cash Back. You’ll earn your cash back as reward dollars, which you can redeem as statement credits.
Cash Back on Gift Cards. You may remember this card from years ago, as I often used it to buy gift cards at the grocery store to maximize the 6% cash back.
No Annual Fee Card Option
The Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express with no annual fee, earns 3% cash back at stand-alone supermarkets (up to $6,000 in spending), 2% cash back at stand-alone gas stations and department stores, and 1% cash back on all other eligible purchases. The sign up bonus for the everyday card is currently $150 after $1000 in purchases.
If you do the math, you’ll pay $95 more for the preferred card, but get $50 more in sign up bonus. You’ll need to spend more than $1500 in the increased cash back rate on groceries to break even. We got the Preferred card first, then downgraded it to the Everyday card.
How are you getting $250? I click your links and all I get is $150 for min spend, plus the possibility of up to $200 back on wireless bills only thru 2016.
The $150 is for the everyday card; the Preferred card is the one with $250 cash back. They look almost the same. Are you seeing only $150 on the preferred card?
Also, if you aren’t seeing it, try browsing incognito. Sometimes if I’ve logged into American Express earlier in the day I won’t see the same offers, but trying a different browser or going incognito in Chrome will do the trick!
6% cash back? That is truly amazing! I must check out this deal closer to make sure I’m not missing out on a great deal!
