Tax Weekend and The Money Writers

This weekend I’m busy crunching numbers. I’m trying to finish up our taxes and despite my organization [1], we ran into some problems. Our income disqualified us from some expected credits. I recently joined The Money Writers [2]. It’s a great group of personal finance writers and I’m excited to be a part of the group. The members include:

Here’s a sampling of some of the best articles from the network this week:

Economic Stimulus Rebate Check Frequently Asked Questions [10]. The who, what, when and how to get your check!

Who Offers the Best Gas Reward Credit Card? [11] I’m a big fan of gas rewards credit cards [12]. There are some more great cards listed here if you haven’t found the perfect one for your situation yet.

15 ways to make your 9-to-5 a 10 [14]. I like the tip to eat lunch with humans. Although it sometimes goes against the typical choice for frugality, it makes a big difference in your day.

Is Generation X Responsible for the Real Estate and Mortgage Problems? [15] Since most of generation X has seen great economic times, this could be an eye-opening time for many. Since I’m on the fringe of generation x I share some traits with the group, but I don’t know if it’s all our fault!

Five Cheap Date Ideas [16]. Great ideas to spend time with someone without spending a fortune. I would love to have a picnic once it gets nicer out!

Saving Strategy: Avoid Upgrading Your Housing. [17] Overspending while building a new house…. that sounds familiar [18]! If you are thinking of building a new house, read this first!
