I just turned 25 and was looking for a magazine to help me simplify my life, organize my apartment, give me some cooking tips, etc - the stuff you don't learn in college. This magazine does the job perfectly! This magazine is chock full of tips to help you save money, time and energy from everything from cooking and cleaning to parenting and hosting a party. It addresses every day issues (how to stop your sink from dripping) to life issues (secrets to a happy marriage from couples who have been married at least 50 years). I think it's a must for recent college grads and would be very enjoyable to everyone else! Let's face it - who couldn't use some tips on how to make their life real simple?! Some of the products they review can be on the pricier side but they give you cheap alternatives as well, which is great for someone like me! Buy it for your sister, girlfriend, wife, best friend, mother and/or grandmother - they will not be disappointed! This is the only magazine that I can't recycle after reading it because every issue has too much useful information!

I love Real Simple. I've been reading it for years now and like that the magazine isn't too much one thing or another. There's a bit of decorating advice, a bit of cooking, a bit of fashion, and some great articles. None of the material is pretentious and it's all very accessable and applicable to my life (fashion isn't too expensive, home design isn't out of reach, recipies aren't overly-complicated or contain hard-to-find ingredients). I also do like that the magazine doesn't seem to be for one niche market or another, and I feel like I'll be able to read and enjoy Real Simple for many years to come!

    PROS:
    1. I love the recipes and have had a lot of success with them
    2. I like the articles about repurposing everyday household items for other uses
    3. Lots of photos/articles about how to decorate fairly cheaply, and their pictures provide additional inspiration. I do like the layout and graphic design for the entire magazine.
    4. I've actually clipped a lot of useful coupons from the ads, and used them to save money!

    CONS:
    1. Yes, the magazine has a LOT of advertisements. Being a bit of a marketing geek, I do like seeing the different kinds of ads, but it can become annoying when the ads seem like they're taking over the entire magazine
    2. Recommendations of expensive products: some products really are too pricey for me, but oftentimes I'll see it and think 'oh, i can repurpose item x (which is cheaper) for the same result!'
    3. Pricey magazine overall. I would not pay the full subscription price for the magazine. But Amazon magazine deals and other website subscription deals make it a much better deal.

I always wanted to subscribe to Real Simple but the cost way to high, so I finally bit the bullet and subscribed. So glad that I did because I read it from beginning to end every month. I love a the new and old ideas and I love to cook so this is the perfect magazine for me. I currently subscribe to 7 or 8 magazines a month and Real Simple is the one I look forward to receiving the most....so tired of the fashion magazines with all the young and skinny models...not to mention the ugly clothes....I guess I'm too old for "Cosmo"!!!

I believe this is a great magazine. Just because it tells you to buy some expensive gadget doesn't mean you have to. But, I believe that this magazine has entertained me, and has given me inspiration for new ideas around my house. Doesn't mean you have to do things the way they say, but you can take the information they give you and set about doing it your own simple way. When I buy magazines I either want them to entertain me, give me new knowledge, or inspire and I feel this magazine has done all of the above.

I've long been a fan of this publication since it first hit the market.

This magazine, for the most part is full of common sense ideas and not many temporary "trends".
    (code word for: throw-it-away-and-buy-more-stuff)
There are tips for conservation and preserving which help keep junk out of the landfills.
On the other hand, it's well written, attractive and interesting from cover to cover.

I wouldn't have been able to afford it had I not been offered a sale price/deal. I'm delighted to get regular copies now.

I've been getting it for the past 6 months and its the best magazine ever. It gives you great ideas on how to organize the house, hand make little things, use stuff around the house that you otherwise would throw away, print recepies for simple healthy and elegant meals. And the best part - they include coupons! Ladies how great is that? I absolutely recommend this magazine. I got subscriptions for my friends to this magazine as Xmas gifts and they all already got the first issue and love it!

This used to be a really good magazine - worth the $20-$25 per year - probably 5 years ago. I resubscribed a few months ago due to Amazon offering a year for only $5! But the current version of Real Simple isn't even worth that. It's basically Redbook - totally for moms. Very disappointing and unrelatable as a single woman. And the advice and articles just don't seem thoughtful or helpful. I actually end up feeling irritated and fleeced after finishing an issue.
