From Your Grandfather: A Gift of Memory for My Grandchild (AARP®) Hardcover – May 1, 2007
Purchase options and add-ons
There’s space to mention favorite relatives, jot down beloved stories, and pass on the important lessons that Grandfather learned from his parents—and grandparents. He can recount details of his childhood and teen years; reminisce about how he met Grandma; and reflect on his own experiences with fatherhood. Because the grandchild is also the star, there are questions to inspire Grandfather to remember when he first saw his grandchild, reveal what he likes best about being a grandparent, and relate how being a grandparent has changed who he is as a person.
And of course, this essential volume has plenty of room to paste in precious photos and mementos.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2017This book is a fill-in-the-blanks question and answer journal for a grandparent to give to a grandchild. It asks leading questions such as, "Where did you meet Grandma?" and "What did you do on your first date?" and provides plenty of room to describe your thoughts and tell the story. It is a thought- and memory-provoking process which will delight an older grandchild from around tween and up, in my estimation. While not all guys will enjoy filling it in, many will.
I recommend it completely. Taking the time to fill in the blanks will be a great time for the grandparent, and reading it will be fun for the grandchild. If the grandchild is older, this book will be a precious look into a grandparent's history. It also makes a great gift for a loving Grandpa given he's the type to enjoy filling it out.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2016I love these books. But that is me as the person who doesn't have to fill them in and rather the person waiting to get it back. My dad loved getting it from my daughter, although he still works and runs his own company, so to get the time to fill it in has been somewhat bothersome for him. So I guess that is something to take into consideration when buying something like this. What was funny though, it asked "What's your favorite kind of music" My dad listed: Classical, Jazz, Opera, Pop. As an 81 year old German Sea Captain, Pop music had me gasp! Growing up he would tell us to turn down that horrible music. So I was amazed that after all of these years he now has started to listen to Pop music. I asked him about it and he answered, "But of course! I love the Boston Pops"...yep. That made more sense...
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2011We have a new baby and were happy to buy this for one of our dads as a Christmas present. He has a love for writing, so we thought he'd appreciate it, which he did. I wanted to see it before I ordered another for the other grandfather, and will be doing so. The questions to answer are personal and leave plenty of room for elaboration. This is a good way for us to learn about our dads, as well as something to pass on to our kids.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2019This is an adorable book. I reccomend buying early and often, maybe even having one around to give to a friend because I found this when it was a little too late. My grandfather has dimentia so bad now that he is unable to compress what is being asked in this book. It is a sad moment but please learn from my loss! Buy this before it’s too late! Give them away as gifts. They will be treasured one day.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2011I bought this book for my dad as he has brain cancer and was given a year to live. I thought it would be a nice momento for him to pass down to the grandkids. I think too, it gives him something to do other than thinking of his prognosis. I ended up buying one for my husband's dad and mom (they is a grandmother's version too), my mom, and my grandma (the kids' great grandma). They were all xmas presents. It is such a great idea. It will be something that I will treasure as well as my kids and their future kids.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2013I couldn't be happier with this book! It is well laid out and ample space to write and put in photos. When completed I know there is going to be a tango among the grandchildren for this one lol.
The book is sturdy and well binded so that there should be no issue of the book falling apart. The print is large and because of the almost A4 sized pages, pasting in photos wouldn't be a challenge.
I simply love the book and having fun helping my Dad fill it in. Hmmm lots I didn't know and getting to learn about my Dad!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2012This is a photo album as well as a memory book. There are lots of pages for gluing in photos. I like this. It will be a wonderful picture book for grandchildren when we are finished... a way to pass on your values and thoughts to the next generation.
