Where’s my refund? You filed your tax return early, and now you want to know the status of your refund check!

The IRS makes it easy to track the status with the Where’s My Refund tool.

IRS Refund Tracker Information

To get the status on your tax refund, you need to input these items into the where is my refund tool:

If you filed a joint tax return, you can use either social security number to access the information on where is my refund.

How soon can you use Where’s My Refund?

  • E-filed Tax Returns: 72 hours
  • Paper Returns: 3 weeks
  • Amended Returns: Amended tax returns are not included in the wheres my refund tracker.

Refund Delays

New in 2017, the IRS Will Delay Tax Refunds if You Claim These Tax Credits: the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit. Refund information will not be available on the refund tracker until after February 15.

    • The IRS clearly ststes there will be a 1 week delay. They also have not given out who this is affecting.

      • “One week delay” means what? Checking the IRS website, the Where’s My Refund function isn’t even working! Honestly, I’m skeptical about IRS’s forthrightness (is that a word?).

  2. i -efiled my return with no problems on january 18th. IRS accepted it the 19th. i checked my account today 2/1/2012 and no money. i went to where’s my refund link and it says 2/7/2012 what the hell. i have been in desperate need to get caught up due to hours at work being decreased. this is rediculous. i guess we all just have to bend over and take it.

  3. Filed on 2/3/2012 but there is a delay till the 28th??? This is def. a huge convenience on this. Is there a reason why?

  5. twice I have tried to see about my refund and it right away sasys I “might” have entered something wrong. This is typical government BS.

  6. eFiled on January 25 and was accepted by the IRS on the 26th. It is now February 20 and I still haven’t received it…almost one month later! All it says is “Your tax return is still being processed.”

  7. I filed mine Jan28,it was accepted Feb14. Still havent received it. All the IRS says is it’s still being processed. They dang sure get their money. I think it’s stupid that they are holding onto what’s mine.

  9. I have exactly the same issue. do any of these situations apply to you? EIC? Head of Household? Marital status change? Huge medical deduction? Huge court fees? I had a crappy 2013. might as well start off 2014 with an audit.

  10. I mailed tax return 2-9-17 it’s been 2 weeks and 5days and where’s my refund said they can’t provide any information about my refund how long will this take
