Your employer will ask you to fill out a W-4 Form when you begin a new job. In addition, you can fill out a W-4 Form and submit it to your employer whenever you want to change your tax withholding.

How to Fill out a W-4 Form

  1. You can access the W-4 Form download from the IRS website.
  2. Fill out your name, address, SSN, and marital information.
  3. Select the number of allowances you want to claim on your W4 Form. You can calculate the number of allowances using the worksheet on the Form W4, or using the 2014 W-4 Form calculator.
  4. Add any additional amount you want withheld, sign and date the form, and turn it in to your employer.
