Plan on eventually driving an electric car or at least a plug-in hybrid. Once you account for the fuel cost, your solar investment will look a lot better.

The tax credit is nice but it’s still too much to be worth the effort in my book. I’m a big supporter of green technologies but solar panels still have a lot of efficiency gains to be made. Make no mistake, if I had money to burn I’d go for it, but it is still too much for mainstreet middle classers.
