Savings Bonds in Electronic Form

As I sort through the piles and piles of financial articles and clippings all over, I found an old clipping I saved in Bloglines.

This article about how to convert paper savings bonds to electonic from My Money Blog is on my to-do list for Sam. As I was accessing her safe deposit box (I share the box so that I don’t have to rent my own) to retrieve stock certificates to cash in for tax harvesting, I found a pile of old paper bonds.

Once the bonds are converted to an online format, it will be much easier to track, manage and cash in. There is also a chance some may not be earning interest any longer, since EE bonds and I bonds only earn interest for 30 years. Next time I stop by the box, I will have to check the dates.
