PopTop Ranks Replaces Personal Finance Site Rankings
What Happened to the Rankings?
Each month I’ve been ranking personal finance sites by subscribers. It provided a great measurement tool, but it was a very manual process.
I asked my husband to create a process that would update the rankings automatically. Not only did he do that, but he created a whole new site for them!
The new PopTop Ranks combines the subscriber rank, updated daily, along with the last post. In addition, it has metrics about each site. It’s always fun to see which sites are the most popular and read the articles.
The sites are sorted by category. PopTop currently has 7 categories, and we’re adding more each week. Feel free to suggest which categories you’d like to see added. Here are the categories it ranks right now:
As you know I’m a big fan of Movers & Shakers at Amazon, so it includes a Big Movers category!
If your site isn’t included yet, you can submit it.

Wow, love the new site and rankings! Your husband is obviously very techie, I can’t imagine all that must have been involved in the automation.
I can’t quite get over the fact that the top two sites are “simply recipes” and “the amateur gourmet”. I guess we’re all pretty food obsessed, and you might as well learn how to make it taste great.
The only category I can think to suggest is vacation & Travel. It’s an Enormously popular topic and there are so many great blogs. I’ve always been curious which get the heaviest traffic.
Love the new rankings, they’re fun to follow and you’ve added some great new information.
Cheers,
Odd Lot

This was a great idea! I have about ten sites that I hit first thing in the morning (Google Analytics, FeedBurner, Sitemeter, etc.) and PopTopRanks.com has joined that group - I love it!

Glad everyone is enjoying the new rankings!
@ Odd Lot: I’ll work on finding Travel and Vacation sites… timely since I have my own vacation coming up soon.
@ Frugal Dad: Woo hoo - we made the morning list!
@ No More Spending: It’s a fun little game isn’t it? I keep bouncing between page 2 and 3 of the personal finance sites and my goal is to stay on page 2!
