Question - when calculating quarterly tax payments, is it calculated as if the "income" from the conversion was received 1/1/2011? That is, is the tax on 50% of conversion amount (to be claimed in 2011) due as a quarterly filing on 4/15/2011, or can it be spread over all quarterly payments?

Nice post. Yeah, the future tax rates are a scary variable. You can also throw in a line for the unemployed or no-income that Roth conversions up to the amount of their deductions and credits are tax-free.
