I admit that this makes a very tempting offer for a college student to get a credit card! You say that "It’s a great offer for the college students who do well at managing their money and want to be rewarded." I think it's worth mentioning that many if not most college students have never had a credit card, don't know if they will do well at managing their money, and will be exposed to a LOT of temptation to buy things while away from the influences of home and family. Most also have limited means to make payments as well.

It's just another way for the credit card companies to hook in another life-long customer and debtor. There is no free money, and the cost for THIS money could eventually be pretty high.

College is for learning, getting ready for the next phase of life. Many kids come out with a lot of student debt - why encourage them to add credit card debt as well? It's a burden that their future would be brighter without.
