However, the stimulus package is actually an advance credit for the 2008 tax year, but will base it in 2007 as a preliminary estimate. If you are actually owed more credit based on actual 2008 taxes, you will receive that credit in 2009. If you were actually supposed to receive less credit based on actual 2008 taxes, you get to keep the difference.
