I got my American Express SimplyCash card a long time ago, before it closed to new applicants. The good news… it’s open to new applicants again and offers 5% cash back on wireless services and office supplies.
It’s exciting since most of us have a cell phone and we rarely see cell service on the list of quarterly 5% rotation cash rewards credit cards. In addition, the cash back on office supplies will come in handy for back to school shopping!
How to Get 5% Cash Back on Wireless Service
- Sign up for the American Express SimplyCash Business card.
- Call your wireless provider and ask them to bill your Simply Cash card.
- Get 5% cash back automatically credited directly to your statement every month.

Here is a break down of all the cash back rewards on the Simply Cash card:
- 5% cash back: wireless services and office supplies
- 3% cash back: gas
- 1% cash back: all other eligible purchases

- No annual fee.
- Cash back is up to $12,000 in purchases per year in each category. After that, cash back will go to 1%.

Need a Business?
While the SimplyCash card is a business card, credit card companies allow you to open a business card account as a sole proprietor using your name for the business name and your SSN. I often did this before I had a “real” business, and just listed the amount of stuff I sold on ebay if it asked for my income.
I have found the business requirement is definitely not a road block in acquiring the credit cards you want, in fact, I think using business cards actually helps (one popular reason is because they don’t show up on your credit report) with maximizing credit card rewards and distribution.
