$750 + 240k Point Credit Card Application Spree

I recently finished another application spree! I usually try to plan 3-4 application sprees a year to take advantage of sign up bonuses. I sign up for a handful of my favorite credit card sign up bonuses at the same time. It’s not for everyone, and it has to be done very carefully; but if it’s done right, it can be a very lucrative way to make extra money!

Here’s a breakdown of how much we earned on our most recent application sprees: $2,075 [1], $1,720 [2], $1,800 [3], $2,000 [4], $2,325 [5] and $3,000 [6]. I’ve started keeping track of the sign up bonuses to add to our diversification of income [7].

Two Part Credit Card Application Spree

As always, I alternate applications, this time was under my name since our last Application Spree to Stockpile 0% Credit Cards [1] was under my husband’s name.

Normally my application sprees take place all in one day. However, the card offers change rapidly, so this application spree was actually done in two parts. I applied for the first two cards one day because the offers were temporarily increased. I was really busy at the time, so I waited awhile before planning out the rest. This was the first time I haven’t completed the entire application spree in one day. I was pleased as it was just as successful as prior application sprees!

Credit Card Application List

  1. Chase Ink Plus [8]. $600+ sign up bonus. I took advantage of the Chase Ink Plus referral [9] to earn us a combined $650+ (including the $50 referral). The offer is back if you take advantage of it by May 25.
  2. Starwood Credit Card from American Express [10]. 25,000 points. We’re once again stockpiling points after our Free Trip to Steamboat [11] last winter.
  3. American Airlines Citi Platinum [12]. 50,000 mile bonus. I have over 100,000 AA miles from my last sign up bonus. These extra miles (and the free bags) are earmarked for a potential trip to finally take the kids to Disney World next year. Don’t forget to also claim your Free American Airlines 1,000 Bonus Miles [13].
  4. American Express Delta Business [14]. $50 credit and 30,000 mile bonus. This card was another one that I picked up for the free bags to use on our trip to Las Vegas. Since we are so close to a Delta hub, these miles will also come in handy!
  5. Club Carlson Visa Card [15]. 85,000 points. I was happily stockpiling Club Carlson points [16] until they decided to eliminate the one night free, which makes the value of the points about half. If you have a Club Carlson card, you can still redeem your points for the full value until the end of the month.
  6. Chase Hyatt [17]. $50 credit and 2 free nights. The two free nights is the standard offer, however, if you start booking a trip, you can find a better offer for the $50 statement credit. I didn’t even need to finish booking the trip. I’m a big fan of Hyatt after redeeming rewards at the last minute when we went to the Final Four [18].
  7. Citi Hilton [19]. 50,000 points. Citi’s updated rule for a second application is after 8 days. I used my second application to pick up the Hilton card.

Overall Value

The total for all of the sign up bonuses is: $750+ and 240,000 points and miles. As you can see I’m moving slightly away from the cash bonuses and picking up points and miles cards when it makes sense. Now that my kids are getting older it’s become much easier to travel again!
